Minutes for On Line meeting dated April 1st 2025
Betty Jo Called the meeting to order at 7 PM with the anthem, invocation and toast to Canada the King and Rotarian’s
Heather Chaired the meeting as Tehreem was absent.
Betty Jo provided an update on the preparations for the upcoming Lobsterfest. Main push is for ticket sales but items for the auction are also needed.
Rick mentioned some foundation cheques have not cleared the bank account, in particular cheques to the Mississauga Symphony, and The Compass. Members of the club picked up cheques in December for hand delivery during the Canada Post strike. He is looking for the members who agreed to deliver these envelopes to contact him at 416 302-7585
David Haigh gave us an update on the upcoming Camp Enterprise at UTM.
Dr. Yogeshkumar Desai was our speaker for the meeting. Yogesh is a member of our club and has quarterbacked our involvement in an international project in India. The Project involved the installation and construction of several Bathroom and Toilet facilities as well as Smart Boards and Solar Panels at four locations including schools and a Hospital in the Southwest area of India around Pune. Total project funding was $117,000 US
Yogesh travelled to India and presented pictures and gave us a very detailed and enjoyable presentation on the completed work at each site.
Additionally, he was able to tour the area and shared some of the attractions such as the Sardar Sarovan Gardens, the Statue of Unity, Lion Reserve, Miramar Beach at Goa and the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
He was also able to attend the inauguration of the Girls Hostel at Mumbai India which his wife’s family has provided significant financial support to.
Finally, he shared some pictures from the Rotary Eye Hospital in Navsari India where Rotary has funded a $60,000 Dialysis Machine.
Overall, a very informative presentation emphasizing the significant role that Rotary has provided to this area of India.
